Several different types of releases are used with downriggers to release when a fish hits, to add fixed and stacking extra lures on the fishing line, to drop or add inline removable weights, and release tension from planer boards. Offshore Line Release
Offshore Line Release, item number 2250106
Quick and easy to set, even in rough or bouncing boat conditions. The spring‑loaded “clothespin” design works with all types of fishing and will not damage your line—no twisting, winding, or looping. Attaches directly to the downrigger weight for a secure, reliable setup.
Setup Instructions:
- Attach the snap directly to the downrigger weight.
- Attach the fishing line to the clip at the end of the release.
Offshore Stacker Release

Allows fishing at multiple depths from a single weight using the popular Offshore Line Release. The spring‑loaded “clothespin” design works with all types of fishing and is quick and easy to set—even in rough water. It will not damage your line by twisting, winding, or looping.
Setup Instructions:
- Lower the downrigger approximately 10–15 feet.
- Attach the snap and first clip to the downrigger cable.
- Attach the fishing line to the second clip.

Spring-action clip opens quickly and easily with finger pressure. The deeper the line is set back in the pads, the greater the tension. Tension settings range from 2 to 12lbs.

Uni-Line Release

A universal one-hand tension release that "clicks" through a series of increasing tension settings. Can be used on any test line for salt or fresh water. Two adjustment points allow tension settings from 2 to 22 lbs. Perfect for slow trolling with live baits or going after light-hitting walleyes. Easy one-hand tension release for use on any test line in saltwater or freshwater.
- Place the fishing line between the pads and start closing the release.
- Each successive click increases the release pressure on the line.
Adjust pad spacing to increase release tension by turning the Tension Knob (+) for heavier tension or (-) for lighter tension.
To open, spread the release arms.
