Updating the Software on Canon Optimum
Any updates for the Optimum downrigger are applied using the Cannon app on a paired mobile device.
- Open the Cannon app on the mobile device.
- Access the Menu by tapping the Menu
button located in the upper left corner of the app.
- From the Menu, select the Software Update option.
- In the Software Update screen, the app will identify if an update is available. It will also list all downriggers in the network and what version of software they contain. If an update is identified, it will display a "Download" button. Select the update button to Download the update to the Cannon app.
- If the app update includes a software update for the Optimum downrigger, a "Transfer" button will appear on the Software Update screen. Ensure the Optimum downriggers are powered on and connected to the network before proceeding.
- Tap the "Transfer" button to send the software update to the downrigger. Both the app and the downrigger will notify you that the update is transferring.
- Once the update is successfully transferred, the downrigger(s) will reboot. The Master downrigger will then distribute the update to all connected Client downriggers.
- Note: Ensure all downriggers are powered on to receive software updates.

Cannon Optimum Connectivity and Sidebar Support (APEX, XPLORE, and SOLIX G3)
The ability to pair, connect, and control Cannon Optimum downriggers has been added. From the One Boat Network tool, users can pair the downrigger to control all of the Optimum settings. Additionally, the controls have been modernized and updated. They are more easily accessible from the Side Bar controls and scale better based on Humminbird control head screen size. The Cannon Optimum Sidebar is also compatible with the newest version of the FishHawk remote depth probe

Troubleshooting Software Errors
If a software issue is occurring on only one downrigger in a network, start by disconnecting the other downriggers within the network.
- Turn off the affected downrigger using the Power Button.
- Disconnect it from the Power Source.
- Perform a load test on the battery(ies) to ensure they read at least 12.6V under load.
- Reconnect the downrigger to the Power Source.
- Power it back on using the Power Button.
- Follow the instructions above to check for a software update.
If the problem persists, including software error messages or failure to move past the power-up screen, contact a Cannon Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and repair assistance.
Software Invalid Example
If a software error is limited to one downrigger within a network, begin troubleshooting by disconnecting the other connected downriggers.
- Turn off the affected downrigger using the Power Button.
- Disconnect the downrigger from its Power Source.
- Perform a load test on the battery(ies) to ensure they maintain at least 12.6V under load conditions.
- Reconnect the downrigger to the Power Source.
- Power the downrigger back on using the Power Button.
- Follow the instructions above to check for a software update.
If the software error persists, displaying "SOFTWARE CUR: INVALID," or the downrigger fails to progress beyond the power-up screen, contact a Cannon Authorized Service Center for further diagnosis and repair assistance.
