Optimum and Optimum TS Anatomy

  1. Reel-This is used to spool the cable, available in lengths ranging from 150 to 400 feet. Optimum TS models will have a stainless-steel reel & Optimum models will have a composite reel, which can be upgraded to the stainless-steel reel.
  2. Boom-This is used to extend the weight out from the body of the downrigger and has a pulley fixed to its end. Boom lengths range from 24 to 53 inches. Optimum models have a telescopic boom that extends from 24-53”
  3. Swivel Head-This relays the cable at the end of the boom to lower the weight.
  4. Cable-This connects to the weight. Optimum models are pre-spooled with 400’ of 150 lb Test Stainless Steel Cable
  5. Keypad/LCD-Keypad is used to control the functions of the downrigger. The LCD provides feedback on the downrigger functions.
  6. Mounting Bases-These attach to the boat, enabling you to place the downrigger where you choose. Optimum models both include a Universal Mounting base & a 360° Swivel Base
  7. Rod Holder-This holds your fishing rods while trolling and may also be used for storing rods. Optimum includes Dual Rod Holder; Optimum TS is a single rod holder.
  8. Boom Clamps-These lock the boom sections together after the boom has been extended or retracted.
  9. Clutch Knob-This loosens and tightens the tension on the spool and holds the side plate in place.
  10. Weight-(not pictured) Not included w/ downrigger. This is used to maintain the depth at which you want to fish. Optimum models have a 20-lb weight capacity

Features

  • One-Boat Network™
Complete wireless Integration with select Humminbird® fish finders for full control and critical trolling data.

Connectivity.png

  • Wireless Integration
Fully integrates with Fish Hawk Electronics, the Cannon mobile app and up to four Optimum downriggers wirelessly. The wireless network allows for features like Auto Up all, with one push of a button to instantly retrieve all your weights at once or one at a time.
  • The Cannon Transducer The Cannon Transducer is the only wired piece of equipment in the Network. The transducer should only be plugged into the Master downrigger. The Transducer is sold separately (item number 1491072)
  • Fish Hawk Electronics (Sold Separately)- Must be Fish Hawk X4D (Bluetooth system) This provides actual depth, water temp, and speed at the probe. Attach the probe to the downrigger cable, attach the ball to the probe. The probe sends information to the Fish Hawk transducer and then the data is shown on the display.

  • Full-Color LCD Screen
3.5" LCD screen with customizable views, sonar data, user preferences and day and night mode settings.
  • Precision Controls
Stores up to 5 Preset Depths and remembers the depth of last catch. Cycle the weight up and down at preset intervals with Depth Cycle, or use Bottom Tracking to automatically keep your bait at preset distance from the bottom.
  • Waterline Zero
Protect your boat from swinging weights. Your downrigger will automatically keep your weight at a set distance below the waterline.
  • Positive Ion Control (PIC)
Your boat’s electronics create a fish-repelling negative energy field in the water. Positive Ion Control neutralizes the negative energy field so fish will stick closer to your line.
  • Speed Adjustments
Five (5) adjustable retrieve and deploy speeds with up to 250 feet-per-minute weight retrieval rate.
  • Boom
    • Optimum TS- Stainless Steel Telescopic Boom
      316 marine-grade, extends from 24" to 53".
    • Optimum- Stainless Steel Telescopic Boom
      Extends from 24" to 53".
  • Spool
    • Optimum TS- Stainless Steel Spool
Comes pre-spooled with 400' of 150 lb of stainless steel cable. Built to handle monofilament or "super lines" without snapping or breaking.
    • Optimum- Composite Spool
Comes pre-spooled with 400' of 150 lb of stainless steel cable.
  • Dual Axis Rod Holder
    • Optimum TS
Includes one (1) rear mount rod holder.
    • Optimum
Includes two (2) rear mount rod holders.
  • Removable Side Plate
Easily access the spool to switch lines, fix snags and make adjustments.

    • Optimum Includes:
Universal Mounting Base, Low-Profile Swivel Base, line terminator, two (2) Uni-line releases, and manual crank handle.
  • Bottom Tracking-Automatically keeps tackle a set distance from the bottom. Needs a Cannon Transducer to do this. When the Cannon Transducer is connected it will show you a sonar view of the Master unit only.
  • Depth Cycle-Automatically cycles tackle up & down between two depth levels at preset time intervals.
  • Soft Stop-Eliminates sudden stops at ascent and decent endpoints.
  • Retrieval Speed-250’ per minute (this is not adjustable coming up)

Rigging Guide

Cannon Rigging Guide

Networking the Optimum

Through the One-Boat Network™, the Cannon Optimum downrigger can be wirelessly networked to give you total control of your downrigger from anywhere on your boat. If you want to put bait on target, you’ve got to fish smarter. The new Optimum™ downrigger is positively ingenious. This smart, connected system gives you access to critical trolling data and lets you raise, lower and cycle weights using the full-color LCD display, or your mobile device. No matter where you are on the boat, you’re in charge. And the fish won’t know what hit them.

The network works by designating one Master downrigger that is paired with all additional equipment through a wireless network. This network includes up to 3 additional Optimum downriggers, a mobile device, the Fish Hawk X4D System and a Cannon transducer. Any one of the Optimum downriggers in the network can be designated as the Master downrigger. The Master downrigger is the central communication hub for the network in which all devices are paired to. Complete the “Installing the Optimum” and “Battery & Wiring” sections of these instructions before setting up the Cannon Optimum downrigger wireless network. Carefully read the information below about how the network functions and then continue to the following sections to pair the additional equipment to the network to set it up for proper control.
